Another 1st time builder
Another 1st time builder here to annoy you all, haha hope it's not too much of a problem. So anyways I've run into many problems but have been able to work them all out until now. I finished the main assembly of the computer itself and then hooked up the monitor to prepare to install the OS when all it read was "NO SIGNAL" I tried using an old monitor we have that we know works to make sure that the problem wasn't with the new monitor and got the same results. There are 2 VGA slots, one on the motherboard and one on the video card. Neither of them worked with either of the monitors. I searched the forums and found another thread where the poster had the same problem and solved it be getting a different (compatable) RAM. I checked and the RAM and motherboard are compatable, both DDR2. Someone else in the thread mentioned compatability with the CPU version but I had trouble understanding what they were trying to say and the didn't go very in detail about it since the figured out the problem with the RAM. Here's a list of my hardware copied directly from Tigerdirect.com.
Motherboard- Mach Speed P4MST-890 Socket 775 Motherboard CPU- Intel Pentium Dual Core E2140 1.6Ghz 1M 800Mhz CPU Memory- (2) US Modular 1024MB PC4200 DDR2 533MHz Video Card- XFX GeForce 8500 GT 256MB Ultra Silent Cooling PCI Monitor- Acer AL2016WBBD 20in Wide Blk 5ms DVI LCD Monitor Power Supply- Thermaltake TR2 430W Silent Power Supply Black Case- Ultra Aluminus Mid Tower ATX Case Black CPU Fan- Masscool Intel Socket 775 Copper Core CPU Fan Case Fan- Ultra 80mm Blue UV Translucent Fan Going through the list one more time I noticed that the CPU is 800Mhz and I have 2 memory sticks with 533Mhz each. I don't know if that means they add up to 1066Mhz and is too much to run on the CPU, or if they don't add together at all and it isn't too much Mhz or if the two are completely unrelated and I'm just babbling on like an idiot. Any information/help would be greatly appreciated, thanks. |

Here's the list of processors your motherboard supports : http://www.machspeed.com/specs/cpusupp/cpusupP4M890.htm
I don't see the E2140 listed.
