Buying parts this weekend and need advice.

Dear Forum,
I am building my own computer for the first time and I need some advice. I am shopping on newegg.com for a new Asus Motherboard and a new Intel CPU, which combination would you recommend? I am currently considering either a Duo E6600 or a Quard E6600 with a high level Asus board.

Also, what is the forum's view on the Antec brand? I am considering getting the Antec P182 Full Case and one of their power supplies. I need to know, how much power will be needed to run a gaming machine with an Asus Motherboard, atleast an E6600 and a Nividia 8800 GT Graphics card? I think 500 watts and two rails will be enough but I am not certain.

This computer is for gaming, multi-media and podcasting. I need everything to be future proof to prevent constant upgrades.

There's already been quite a bit said about your build in this thread, so please let's keep things in there, so things don't have to be repeated. Thanks
