Motherboard and Processor combination.

Hi guys, I am planning on building a really good gaming computer, since I am new to the computer scene I have a question or two. I already have a nice case lined up and I have been doing some research, but I figured I should ask somebody before buying. What are some of the best motherboard and processor combinations? I wanted to go with an intel processor, either a Pentium Core 2 Quad Core or a Core 2 Duo, I am guessing the quad core is better, but I just want to know the best motherboard/processor combination on the market.

For C2D or C2Q processors we're recommending the ASUS P5K motherboard series. The differences between the models are the extra features they provide so you'll have to think of what you'll need in a motherboard and see which model suites your needs best.

Have no clue what a conversion rate is between Pounds and US Dollars other than Pounds are worth more.

They may tend not to use Asus as much in the UK, but I like to use Asus.

Asus P5K + Q6600 is what I plan on using. If you are waiting till march maybe the new 45nm Quads will come out and lower the prices.
