Little bit more expensive build.

Ok... I have the beginnings of a build in progress. I have a free antec solo case and I picked up a 700w ocz power supply with good amp output so I should be able to power anything I need. I also have a quad core q6600 intel processor, the problem those parts were a bit easier to choose and get a hold of. Now I am torn between my choices on MOBO's... it seems like the I should probably go with the x38 chipset, but that leaves me with quite a few choices.

... there is also this board by foxconn which looks like a nice option due to the ability to run either DDR2 or DDR3 if I want to upgrade later down the line.

but I am not sure if that is a good brand for boards.

I don't have it yet but Ill be picking up an 8800gt when I get this board. Do I need to pick up some manner of extra cooling for my case if I plan on trying to over clock the system?

Lastly, I have a wired mouse and keyboard, but need to pick up a new system because my girlfriends cat apparently has a thing for the wire to my mouse. Are there major drawbacks to wireless systems? Any particular preference for anyone on optical/laser?

Any suggestions are much appreciated... with any luck Ill have the rest of the items purchased by the the of the weekend and I can start building by next weekend!

Dear god I just checked the price on DDR3 memory, the foxconn should probably be off the table unless memory is going to be coming down in price anytime soon.

Does everyone like Seagate alright for hard drives?

Seagates are good drives,look to the 7200.10 series in the 16meg cache.
As for motherboards, Asus are the top recommendation at this time, would look at the P5K series which has the P35 chipset. The 38 is still a fairly new chipset and with the cost of DDR3 ram, it's not a best choice at this time.

Foxconn Boards are not good quality in my opinion. I have had a lot of bad experiences with them and their RMA department is a nightmare.
Stick to an Asus, they make bullet proof boards. Seagate hard drives have the best warranty on the market and they are very solid.
