Welcome to PCMech.

My only suggestion for your 'to buy' stuff is to swap for a SATA DVD drive. How about a DVD Burner?

Do you have a video card?

why get that processor when you can spend 15-20 bucks for for an e6750 with a fsb of 1333 and a higher clock speed?

I haven't look into video cards much yet... My plan is to hook my pc up to my hdtv, it is a 42" westenhouse - it has a vga input. Will i need a highend card for this?

You actually have more RAM than you need if you were to get the E6320...you would normally use DDR2 667 for 1066MHz FSB Intel CPUs.

Thanks for all your help.

One last question... is all this hardware compatible with Linux? I don't want to drop over 100 bucks for vista
