Need help diagnosing new build problem

Hello,

I need some help diagnosing a problem on a new build I just put together last night. Here are the details of the new PC that will be used primarily for video editing:

New Components
Antec 900 case
Thermaltake 750W Psu
ASUS P5E MB (X38 / ICH9R)
Q6600 Processor
Zalman 9700 CPU Heatsink/Fan
2 GB Corsair Dominator 1066mhz
eVGA 8800GT GPU (not yet installed)
2 Seagate 320GB SATA II HDD's for RAID 0

Components from Old System
HP DVD Burner
Radeon X800 Video Card
150GB Raptor HDD (contains OS (WinXP) and programs)
1 500GB Seagate SATAII HDD for Video Caching

OK. I completed assembly last night and it seemed to start up fine and I went directly into BIOS setup. It appeared everything was recognized and was set to go. CPU temps (at idle anyway) were great (20deg C). When I exited out of BIOS, it seemed to POST fine and then it began to boot Windows. At that point, the computer just reset itself. It would continue in that loop indefinitely. It was late and I didn't have time to investigate further.

My first thought is that it's related to the DDR2. I bought the 1066 RAM with the intention of OC'ing the machine once I had it running and stable at stock for a while. Now I'm wondering if I need to tweak the settings for the fast ram to get it to work.

So my question is how do I go about diagnosing the problem? I have a pair of 512MB 400mhz (PC3200) sticks from my old computer. Should I try those? They worked fine, but on a P4 board with 800mhz FSB. This new board is (of course) 1066mhz FSB so I don't know if the old RAM is a good starting point.

Any ideas?

Thanks for your help.
Mark

Try booting up with the xp disc in the dvd drive, and choosing to do a repair install.
