1st Build / Budget Gaming rig
Hi Everyone
My Son and I decided to do a build together, part as a fun project and also as a learning experience. We're currently running a HP 9040n Quad with an Antec650 trio and an Nvidia 8600Gts does quite well with BF2, QuakeWars, LOR, Etc. Thats his set-up, mines an old piece of junk that I have to set a low and then its ugly at best!! lol So after much reading of your fine forum and many others I think the fun of building as well as well as the educational aspect of it, I have pulled the trigger on the following set-up. Appreciate any advice and/or opinions on the set-up. All product thru Newegg 1: Intel C2Duo E6750 2.66Ghz LGA 775 189.99 2: Gigabyte GA-P35-S3L LGA 775 ATX MB 99.99 3: Crucial Ballistixs 2GB(2X1GB) DDR2800(PC26400) 74.99- 25.00 Mail -In 4: Antec Sonata lll W/PsP 500w 129.99 5: Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 320GB 7200 3.0Gb/s SATA 84.99 6: Lite-on 20X DVDR Burner SATA OEM 32.99 7: Sapphire Radeon HD3850 512mb 256 bit GDDR3 199.99 8: Microsoft Windows Vista 32 bit Home prem OEM 109.99 total w/ship 929.21 Anything I should look out for?? I would like to play with over-clocking down the road and I was wondering is the stock CPU fan / HS okay or should I get an aftermarket?? Thanks In advance as Im sure I'll be back LoL BcB |

You really can't go wrong with anything on that set up, it all seems the recommended stuff, the case you have is highly recommended for budget builds. Although most people recommend ASUS motherboards over Gigabyte just because their more reliable. The processor is excellent for the price.

Look at the retail lite-on drives. That will give you nero in case you need it. And i think it comes wikth a sata cable too.
As far as the stock heatsink for an overclock, I'm using my stock heatsink now on the e6750 and have a slight overclock of 3ghz and the system is stable and not getting too hot.

Thanks for the input, good to know about the stock H/S. Now I cant wait for it to get here!
I would of liked to have gone with an Asus MB, but Im right at my limit with this set-up, I figured down the road I would upgrade the MB and VID card. |

Newegg Rocks!
Ordered 12/9, recieved 12/12 and 12/13 everything was just as it should be, no damage. Had everything ready last night for the CPU, drives, ram and Gpu, recieved last box at 3:00 pm today, had it up and running at 5:00pm. No problems what-so ever, I was sure something was gonna gum-up the works The HD 3850 512m is awesome!!
