don't mind the amd setup, though some may say that Intel is the better bang for your buck
the mobo is not too bad, some may recommend going with Asus because of there high quality products, you might want to look into that if you are going with 4gb of ram, then you will need a 64-bit operating system that will see all 4gb of it 32-bit operating systems can only see approximately 3.25gb or so if u want DX10 gaming, go with vista, if not, it wouldn't hurt to go with XP and for the harddrives, i'd just toss those out the cost per gigabyte is just not worth it you are better off getting a 500gb hard drive from seagate, way better bang for your buck you could even pick up a 1TB hard drive for the cost of 2 raptor drives.. even though they are faster, you will not notice much of a difference between those and the 7200RPM drives and with that being said, the raptor drives do generate more heat and have a shorter live span just go with a 500gb hard drive and you'll be set |

and make sure that your memory is compatible with your motherboard
some manufactures are picky as to which memory you use |

Looks like your old computer would handle newer games if you just replaced the video card with something more powerful, like from the NVidia 8800 line of video cards and upgraded the CPU to the fastest one supported by that motherboard.

I'm not a gamer but from what I understand the 8800 series of video cards just about blows away all lower series NVidia video cards when it comes to gaming performance.
