motherboard installation

Hey I am trying to install a Asus M2N-SLI Deluxe mother board and the screws provided with my case have this washer that go outside of the circle for the screw on the mother board. Not sure if this matters or what I should do. If anyone knows a easy way to install this mobo please let me know.

Washers are not usually necessary. The motherboard's mounting holes should have a silver ring already to prevent the screw top from shorting the board.

Be sure to use standoffs though to mount the motherboard to the case to prevent a short between the board and case side.

Thanks, but I think that if I use the standoffs the USB ports, mouse/keyboard ports etc. wont line up correctly with the case

Also, the washers are permanently fixed to the screws.

You can't just mount the motherboard right on the mounting tray, it'll short out. Unless your mounting tray uses those raised bumps that take the place of the standoffs.

Guess you have no choice but to use the washers. But if the washers go outside the circle you should only worry if the washer makes contact with one of the circuit traces. It they don't you should be okay.
