splat Screen looks whacky!!! Video Card?

Hi there
Need some help understanding what has gone wrong with my computer.

I buillt it for gaming and music. Recently, i was playing WoW and all of a sudden, my screen froze up and it looked like there were streak marks across the screen and boooom! my computer crashed.

I rebooted...but as i did, the boot screen (where you can hit DELETE button to enter set up) had blue squares scattered all over the screen...almost checker like...blue on black background)

Then as it boots into windows, there are these faint vertical lines all over my screen.

I cannot seem to get rid of thes lines...(my screen used to look really nice and clear...almost picture perfect clean)...but now it looks whacky with all these line.

Is this my graphics card or something with my CPU?

btw...I reinstalled windows to see if that would help....same issues arose. Didnt help

Thinking of buying a new hard drive and start from there to figure out whats wrong. Am i headed in the right direction?

Current Build-
-ASUS A8N-SLI Premium 939 NVIDIA nForce4 SLI ATX AMD Motherboard
-PC Power & Cooling Turbo-Cool 510-SLI ATX12V 510W Continuous @ 50°C Power Supply

-BFG Tech BFGR78256GTXOC GeForce 7800GTX 256MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16 SLI Supported Video Card
-AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+ Manchester 2.2GHz Socket 939 89W Dual-Core Processor
-Microsoft Windows XP Professional With Service Pack 2
-CORSAIR XMS 2GB (2 x 1GB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM DDR 400 (PC 3200) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model
-Creative Sound Blaster Audigy2 ZS Platinum 7.1 Channels PCI Interface Sound Card

thx

Use a different monitor.. Maybe the monitor is broken (is it a CRT or LCD?)

Indications are that the Graphics card has gone bad.

1st thing to try is making sure that it is seated correctly, if it is check that the fan is running. If all is well there try another card and see what happens.

I dont think it is the monitor...cuz the screen froze.

I hope its not the video card...ugh...paid close to $500 bones on that.

Also yes I took my video card out and air cleaned it and made sure it was seated nice and snug. I did the same for all the other parts as well just in case...

same issue arises.

Don't quote me on this but I think BFG offer lifetime warranties, so all may not be lost if it has gone south, which it certainly sounds like.

Another thing to try would be the drivers, but to be honest I think that the card has had it....sorry.
