Opengl Workstation

Well I will be done with school in about another 6 months and am looking to build my own OpenGL Workstation for all my CG work. I have been doing the routine research about what is the best to have.

The largest part of my focus is the video card of course, the NVIDIA Quadro FX 5600 is the primary card I have been looking at. But due to its extremely pricey tag I was wanting to see if I could round up some opinions from the good ole' people at pc mech.

Right now I have a 8800 GTX card running right now. Of course the cards is not a workstation card although, will buying the 2.5 thousand dollar card make a large rendering time difference for me if I do decide to build a OpenGL rig?

Do you have clients lined up to do freelance work? I'd upgrade if you know you will be pressed for time and the card will pay for itself/be written off as a business expense. Otherwise my opinion is to wait and make do with what you have for the moment. I don't do hardcore rendering much so you may know better than me what your own needs are. I assume someone at school or a professional acquaintance can let you take a test run on a Quadro, if so take them up on it.
