Will these specs work?
Basically, I've custom built a machine (haven't bought anything yet) from Newegg, and I wonder if the parts will all work together without error.
Here's the build: 4GB Corsair XMS2 DDR2 800 Memory Nvidia GeForce (G92) 8800 GTS Intel Core 2 Duo E6750 Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 500GB Antec True Power Trio 650W Power Supply GigaByte GA-P35C-D53R Motherboard Cooler Master Mid Tower ASUS SATA 20X DVD+RW Optical Drive ZALMAN 92mm Heat Sink Fan Windows XP Professional OEM I've also heard about Crucial Ballistix memory. Should I go with 2 gigs of Crucial Ballistix 1066 rather than 4 gigs of Corsair 800? Also, I'm working within a $1000-$1350 budget limit for the box. Welcome to PCMech.
That looks like a fine list to me, good researching. No need for the 1066 RAM unless you plan on heavy overclocking. I'd stick with DDR2-800. Keep in mind though that you need a 64bit OS to use all 4GB of RAM. 32bit versions recognize about 3.2GB. Easiest thing to do is to just stick with 2GB for now and upgrade if you need to later.
