New Build Suggestions

First time bulider here.
Iam going for gaming, not really worried about the money, but dont want to over-do-it.
I can pretty much pick out the other parts i need easily, but iam having trouble with mobo, vid card and processor choices/compatiblity. Let me know what you guys think.

ASUS MAXIMUS EXTREME LGA 775 Intel X38 ATX Intel Motherboard

BFG Tech BFGR88640GTSOCE GeForce 8800GTS 640MB 320-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card -

Intel Core 2 Duo E6700 Conroe 2.66GHz LGA 775 Dual-Core Processor Model BX80557E6700 - Retail

are these ^^^^^ compatible?

You should gte either the new 512 GTS or ATI 3870 for best value and performance. It is quite redundant to get any of the old GTS now.

I don't think you'll be wanting to use any of the benefits of the X38 chipset.. the P35 would do you fine. Look at the P5K-E or P5K Premium - which is amazing.

Quad core is out so have a look for a Q6600 - if you see a G0 stepping one even better.

Another choice of GFX card would be the 8800GT. BFG are good but most of us round here go for EVGA. They do a KO and SSC version of the 8800GT - well worth getting!

I'd agree with the above posters, go for an 8800GT, or the 3870 (review of the latter here: http://www.itreviews.co.uk/hardware/h1453.htm)

Great value cards, both of them.
