If they are going to be playing games you need a video card otherwise leave it out.

E6550 is only slightly less speed same FSB, i'd reccomend getting that.

The 945 chipset is quite old now, it's mostly P35 and X38 is being slowly brought in too, so I'd reccomend looking at a P5K with onboard graphics if I were you.

Do they really need to have 320GB? It's upto you, but you could save some money there.

I doubt your going to be overclocking this so 667MHz Ram (PC25300) would do the job.

Unless they are going to be burning from one DVD to the other etc, 1 optical is enough.

The onboard sound on motherboards these days is excellent leave the sound card out. Also a very good choice on Case & PSU.

Any finally why not give them something more future proof, get Vista. I don't think it's that bad really and it will become a must in the next few years I reckon. However if they don't like change - keep XP then theres nothing new to learn.

That motherboard is NOT compatible with the 1333FSB CPU you've listed. Look at the ASUS P5K instead.

If this computer that you are building is not going to be used for gaming or heavy multimedia stuff like encoding or video editing, you could easily make a computer for about half the cost of your current configuration.
