My First Build

This is going to be my first time building a computer, and I'll be ordering all of the parts later today. I just want to make sure I have all the right components selected and to see if you guys have any reccomendations.

Parts List:


Motherboard:

Windows XP Professional


Total Cost w/out case and memory, after Rebates and S&H: $680.93

my budget is within $750.

I will be using this pc for moderate gaming and work, i don't plan on overclocking or extreme gaming or anything like that.


Any recommendations for parts or am I good to go?

Which parts did you already buy? The video card, hard drive, DVD burner, power supply, case and OS? Or just the video card and the OS?

Do you intend to do SLi in the future? If you are then make sure you get a SLi certified power supply that can handle the two cards you intend to use. I don't think that Thermaltake power supply is listed as a certified PSU for SLi...the only 500 watt Thermaltake is the PurePower 500 watt.

Personally, I wouldn't do SLi unless I could go with at least two 8800GTs minimum and the appropriate power supply. One 8800GT would outperform two 8600GTs in SLi.

And I would use a motherboard with a Intel chipset for best compatibility, stability and performance.
