Make sure it's out of the case when you try this. If it still doesn't work, then post back and list all parts, make and model including power supply.

I'm still getting the same problem. I took everyhting out and hooked it up then touched the two wires and it will just boot for like a second and then stop.

Sounds like that the CPU heatsink unit isn't fully latched in at all 4 corners. If even one corner is not fully latched, that can cause enough lose of contact to the CPU to cause the CPU to overheat and shutdown.

I'm not 100% sure, but I think there might be a problem with the fact that the processor fsb is 1333, but the mb is 1066.
And did you apply a thin layer of thermal compound, and make sure the heatsink was fully seated? |

The board will probably need a BIOS upgrade, according to Asus it supports all the way up to the QX9650. That must be with overclocking though, the P965 chipset doesn't support FSB1333, which you CPU is. In that case, that board isn't the best choice for that CPU, you will have to run the board outside the stock speeds to run that CPU which will void the warranty. Consider another board or a 1066MHz CPU like the E6700. But I would recommend getting another motherboard.
