Question New PSU & Case Needed?

Hello,

I am considering updating my PC with an Intel P35 motherboard, Intel quad-core (45nm model) & possibly an 8800GT 512Nb graphics card.

My question is; do I need to also replace my PSU & case? If I can keep my case and PSU it would save some time and money I ask this because ironically upgrding my CPU may not use much more - if any - power and probably would run significantly cooler than my existing hot "prescott" CPU.

Here's my current spec:
Case : Coolermaster Wavemaster
PSU: Tagan 480W
CPU: Intel 660 3.6G=hz
GFX: Nvidia 6600GT PCI-E

My PSU does have a dedicated power cable for GFX cards and I believe the 12V rail is around 30amp.

Any comments or insights would be gratefully received.

Regards

Steve

Is your Tagan a true ATX 2.0 or higher power supply?

Check out this deal!

Ends up being $300 for a top notch case and a 1000W PSU.

Sentinel: Your case and PSU should be fine for your plannned upgrade. If you go to a more powerfull video card then you would want to up-grade the PSU to something in the 550w range.
nlovel: That combo is way over kill for Sentinels or anybodies needs. It does make for good bragging rights.

Thanks for the link. However, I think it's a bit more than I'm looking for, plus I don't live in the U.S so shipping would be a bitch!
