Question Help me with this error....

Ok, I installed XP with the parts out of the case in barebone system and got win xp installed and all apps installed and ran for 2 days no prob. So I take the parts out of the barebone system and put it in a case exactly how I had it in barebone.....now when it boots up I get this error message saying:
Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt:
\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEM

You can attempt to repair the file by starting Windows Setup using original Setup cd.
Select "r" at the first screen to start repair.

So basically I need to hit R? Cause when it does it doesn't do anything or I'm not doing something right.

My friend had this exact same error and it was because he did a hard shut down just because his mouse wasnt working.

We had to use the CD and I believe we followed this:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=307545

I'd just wait for someone to confirm that though because you don't want to mess it up even more.

Are you trying to save any data on the PC? If not you could try to just re-install XP. Barring a hard drive failure that will work and you will not have to worry about partially repaired registry values.
