Continuos beep on power up-HELP!
This is my 2nd build. After assembly, on power up I get a continuos unending beep from the MB (Striker Extreme). Everything else inside runs (fans, DVD, HDDs) but no monitor or keyboard. After test run, MB LCD panel reports "CMOS ERR". I reset the CMOS and reseated the RAM with no effect.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Please Help. Thanks in advance. Bios beep codes...http://www.amptron.com/html/bios.beepcodes.html
Pull out the manual and find out what bios you've got. I usually associate the computer screaming at me with the cpu overheating so make sure you check that out as well, is the heatsink fan combo properly seated and making contact? You remembered to remove any protective strips that shield the thermal pad or did you remembered to apply thermal paste ?

Time to check memory,
Start by booting with one stick at a time. If that works then try two. Keep going till you get the beeps. To pin point the errors there's memtest : http://hcidesign.com/memtest/download.html This will give Corsair some idea of what's going wrong if you have to contact them. You may need to do no more then change ram timings, follow Corsair's instructions for this, or they may need to replace the ram entirely if you bought the sticks in pairs or as whole set. Fortunately it should still be under warranty. |

Might have to remove some of the hardware and go down to the bare bones and see what works one item at a time.
Might start with just CPU and RAM and expect the BIOS beep code for no video card. You might have to change something in the BIOS to use both video cards. I dont know how that works. I dont know if using 4 sticks of RAM is the best idea so try with just the first bank of RAM and see if that works. I know sometimes you have to plug the power supply into the motherboard to and extra 12v plug to use a second video card because it takes extra power. |
