So I posted a while back about a PC I was going to build, well actually, right around tomorrow. However, because of a misunderstanding with my college grant money, I won't be able to build this until March. That being said, I have some questions.
I already have these two parts: A 550 Watt PSU and an Infinity 975 X/G mobo The first question is regarding the motherboard. While it CAN run the Quad Core Intel Processor AND ATI crossfire graphics, I've been told in some other forums that this mobo isn't all that great, and that if I want to build an ultimate gaming rig, I should buy another motherboard. So my question is to those who have heard of it or have actually used it, what should I do? Any recommendations? I'll list the specs for this configuration. 550 Watt PSU Infinity 975 X/G mobo Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 Processor 4 GB DDR2 800 RAM Radeon HD 3870 512MB GDDR4 Video Card I was also going to look into getting another one of the video cards to crossfire them later on, but I'm not sure if my PSU is set up to handle that. And, to those who have never heard of or used the Infinity 975 X/G mobo, which motherboard would you recommend getting if this one doesn't seem all that great? My budget for a mobo should be around 100-200 dollars. Thanks in advance. Cats |

The Infinity board from DFI was a fine choice a few years back but its Intel 975 chipset is dated today. You want something with the P35 chipset instead. We like the Asus P5K line of boards.
