os and first time build

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I figured I would post this in this forum because it has to do with choosing OS on first time builds.

Looking through the vista oems I noticed that some of the same os's were different in pricing on newegg. Why is that? I am not refering to the upgrade versions but the simple vista home premiums.

What if I am building more than one pc? Do I need to get 2 vistas or can I use one? What are the pros and cons? What versions can you buy that allow you to put them on more than one pc?

Once it get all the parts together I do the os before driver disks right?

It's all in the details

Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium DVD - Retail $218.99

Microsoft Windows Vista 32-Bit Home Premium for System Builders 3 Pack DVD - OEM $329.99

It's always been One KeyCode per machine...The 3pack would allow you to install on three machines...

And yes, have to have the OS installed inorder to install drivers.

What about buying multiple licenses for one? How would I go about doing that?

Not sure what you mean by "multiple licenses for one". If different OSes on one computer(dual boot), it's still one keycode for one OS.

Flanzig1, this is the post that got me wondering about that. Dragon's post is really helpful in that he does tell me that oem is better because "all you get is a box and manuel." I just wish I knew how to get the license now. I tried going to ms for the answer but I must be stupid, lazy, or stupid and lazy. I don't know how to search or there is just to much info and I am too lazy to read for hours. Will try again, I guess.

I keep finding license transfer. That is not what I want to do. I want multiple license. How does one go about doing that?

Multiple licences are usually sold out to buisness, so normally it's just easier to buy normal discs, plus buying additional licenses, if possible is more expensive than buying the oem discs. The retail discs are the ones with the manual and box, but it costs a lot more than oem, and isn't really worth it.
