I am picking desktop parts for my first build and ive been looking at the batterys and I dont know which one to pick because some said that it went up in flames from not using enough of the power so can you help me with this?

Desktop computers do not use batteries. You want a power supply. Take a look at the information here: http://forum.pcmech.com/showthread.php?t=131195
