video card and case issues

I wonder if any of y'all might have run into this.

On my Antec ninehundred case I have an Ati x1950 video card, but I can't connect both dvi connectors at the same time. The slots on the case don't give me enough room.

I also have the same problem on my Hp A1640n Desktop when I upgraded to the ati x1800 video card.

It's not that big of deal as I only use one connector on them now, but would like to find a work around in case I do need to connect a secondary display.

Thanks

What do you mean the slots don't give you enough room?

Is it installed correctly?

I have a 900 as well, and never noticed it, If you don't plan on using more than one monitor then I wouldn't worry about it.

I have a 900 case also. Both connectors are avaliable on my 8800 GTS, I actually tried two monitors for a bit but had desk space issues. The back plates of most video cards are pretty standard so not sure what your issue is. Exactly why cant you access them, does the card not line up with the slot in the back of the case? Or are the connectors on the ATI card two close together? what is interfering with plugging in the second monitor?

The slots don't line up correctly, The video card wants to set too high, I actually think I had applied pressure to lower the vid card a little to get the dvi connector to fit in dvi out 1, but it wasn't gonna work for dvi out 2. It's been a while since I did that. Sorry if I'm not writing this clear enough, I'm sick with the flu and feel like my thoughts are garbled.

Could you possiby take a picture of it?

So far, out the 3 posters that responded to this thread, we all have the antec 900 and none of us have this problem.

I just want to see if maybe there's something we're all missing so maybe we can get this solved.

I'll try and get a picture, might be awhile though. I get to try to go back to work tomorrow. But will do as soon as I get a chance.

It could be because where your video card slot sits, mine is the 3rd one down and have no isues. Yours might be because the cable hits the bottome of the fan housing..

Looks like what doubledragon said. The cable is hitting the case and stopping it. Only things I can think of is to try and gently insert the cable and pull it down while attaching and see if it has any give, or you could try rubbing the top of the cable off a bit and seeing if it will happen to fit.

Would check to see if you loosen the card flange screw inside the case and sift the card enough to get the video cables to connect.

i apologize if my ignorance is showing, but is the cable you are trying to connect a DVI-I and not a DVI-D?

shadowpr, That how I originally got the cable connected, I slightly lower the end of the board and I trimmed a cable. But How am I ever supposed to get that second connection in, I'm thinking it could be nice with my tv so close to connect it there.

phigdon, The physical dimensions of both dvi-i and dvi-d are the same.

I hope I don't have this problem with my new build. lol

You shouldn't have problems if the slot wasn't the first one.

Only thing else you could probably do is take everything out the case, and start to cut that lip on top.

As a side note, I think you might have adifferent version. I don't have that top piece along my first slot. Not all the way at least. Wonder if they have changed it cause of problems like this.

DVI-D and DVI-I are close but not the same.

http://www.asisupport.com/ts_asus_dvi-i_to_dvi-d.htm

a DVI-D cable should fit a DVI-I but not the other way around.
