STOP winXP error

I'm putting together a new system

AMD 64000 CPU
2x2gig OZ Ram
BIOSTAR TF7050-M2 mobo
8800 GT GeForce EVGA

old parts:

ANTEC 500W 12V 20pin PSU
SATA 250gig 7200rpm Hitachi HD
WinXPHome

I started up the machine with the vidcard in it but It wouldn't boot to bios so I took that out
I think it drew too much power but I don't know for sure

I have a 20pin connector on my PSU but it's a 24 pin connection on the MOBO so I got an adaptor

I was able to get it to boot to BIOS but got a dull green screen while Windows was booting and this message was at the bottom

STOP: 0x0000007E (0xC0000005, 0xBA258750, 0xBA4C342C, 0xBA4C3128)

I was able to boot into safe mode, I ran WinXp maniger and it is recognizing 4gigs of ram and the new CPU seems all well and good at 30deg C.

I have about 10gigs of HD space on my HD.

Any idea why I get this message?

Well, you are not suppose to use a non-ATX 2.0 PSU on a ATX 2.0 MB so I am surprised you got it to post or that they sell an adaptor. But then again if there is a work around someone will usually figure one out. Anyway, that would be the first part I would suspect.

A bad power supply can cause all sorts of problems.

Best bet is to get a good power supply, that was designed to work with that motherboard.

Did you delete all the drivers before switching motherboards and then do a repair install once you did?

You can not just put a HD that has an OS installed into a new computer. You either need to clear the HD and start fresh with a new windows install, or leave the OS on the HD and do a repair install when it boots up. The OS is tied to the bios of your old MB and will not recognize the new one.
