no boot screen

hi, i have my system looking something like this;

http://img152.imageshack.us/img152/6163/sany0076gp8.jpg

these are my psu's specs;

http://img166.imageshack.us/img166/7896/sany0074qp0.jpg

but when i boot the system I get no signal to the monitor. monitor works for sure i tested with a p3 mobo/cpu combo. i've tried with and without the 9800 with the onboard video but i get nothing either way.

M955G (V3.0A) mobo
p4 2.6 cpu
crucial 512mb 400 ddr ram

it booted fine in the shop a couple hours before i got it so i doubt it went bad since then. is it the psu? too weak? im not sure if it is indeed 300W or if its adequate. if you have any other suggestions please let me know. thanks guys!

HI and welcme to pcmech. You have two things going bad for you. The first is PC Chips mother boards are garrabe, and second that psu I never heard of before. So both could be the issue I first suspect the mb, then the psu..

It may have booted, but with the reputation of PC Chips it could be the last time it boots as well.. Look for a good psu from this list, then if that doesn't work then you can assume it is the mb itself. http://forum.pcmech.com/showthread.php?t=131195

Does that video card require power from the psu, and did you plug it in.

you were right the mobo is a pos. the heatsink caused the board to bend and short out. truly el-cheapo...

Remember on thing, when you install the heatsink/fan do it on a none conductive service and be careful not to apply to much pressure, as you could get the same results as with the PcChips board, although I never had that problem with a quality made board..
