New build's processor not reading at advertised speed?

So, I was crusing through the bios menus of my new system while waiting for my Windows XP cd to arrive, and I noticed that my processor isn't coming up at it's advertised speed. I'm new to building computers so I'm not sure if there's something I'm missing. I've ordered an Intel 2.4GHz Q6600 Quad-Core processor from newegg but the CPU speed under my mobo's "extreme tweaker" overclocking menu says 1.86GHz. Same readout in the bios post message. Does it sound like I was given a slower model processor?

If you have windows installed, run a program called CPU-Z, it will identify what processor you have, if it shows the right one, you'll have to make some manual changes in the bios, if it's not the same, then you may have received the wrong processor.

Or, you may need a bios update.
