power led question
i'm installing a new DP35DP intel board. The case comes with wires for POWER LED, POWER SW,
But the POWER LED has 3 pins, whereas the visual guide for the DP35DP show POWER LED as number 2 and 4. I also do not have a wire that has ON OFF written on it as shown on the DP35 guide. If I use all the 3 pins on the POWER LED I have just one pin left where (i suspect) POWER SW goes (but shown as ON OFF on the guide sheet). And how do I know which way to insert.....writing facing out or facing in? The case and the intel mobo guide just don't match up and I'm a little confused. thanks |

If the LED has 3 leads it is a 2-colour. The middle pin is the COM and the 2 outer wires go to the LED's. Connect it the way in which ever colour LED you like lights.
Usually the writing will face inwards, but if it doesn't go just flip it around.

My motherboard had a 2 pin power led connector and a 3 pin led connector, since my case led is only 2 pin I used the 2 pin connector. On your case connectors there should be a very small arrow on the opposite side of the writing indicating which wire is positive, then look in your motherboard manual to see which pin is positive. Insert the case connector so that the wire with the arrow on its side is in the positive pin. Power switches and reset switches don't care which way they are plugged in but leds do. Now your mobo should have a 3 pin and a separate 2 pin power led connector, at least that is how mine is. Also you need to have the power SW connector inserted into two pins. Your motherboard manual should explain where all the front panel connectors are located and which pin is positive. That should cover it.
