Angry Fire First time building

So, I've been following the "Build Your Own PC" guide here at PCMech and after completing all of the actual hardware tasks, I've encountered a problem =[

So, I've plugged in the keyboard, monitor, and the power supply and turned it on. It turns on fine, with all the fans running, the lights on the case going off, my dvd drive opening and closing fine, nothing strange happening. Only problem is, there's no display on the monitor! I'm fairly certain this is a problem with the PC and not the monitor since this is the same monitor I used for my last PC. The video card is an ATI Radeon HD 3850 and I have to use the thing that converts the plug into VGA to use with my monitor if that matters. And, the motherboard is a Biostar PD35D2-A7 LGA 775 Intel P35 ATX Intel motherboard. If anyone could tell me what's wrong and how to fix it that'd be great!

Thanks for the help! I just hope I didn't break my video card or do something stupid

Please list complete system spec, make and model, including the power supply.

Make sure you have all power cables plugged in.

Complete system specs:

Biostar P35D2-A7
Intel Core 2 Duo E4500
Cooler Master RP-500-PCAR 500W
Diamond ATI Radeon 3850 512mb DDR3
Kingston 2g RAM
Western Digital 160GB 7200rpm 16mb cache
Lite-On DVD/CD/DVD-RAM combo Burner/Reader

just double checked and I believe all the power cables are plugged in. I also noticed that when I turn on the computer, it does not beep. Thanks again!

Do you have the 6 pin pci-e power cable plugged into the video card?

EDIT: If so, then you need to follow this link: http://forum.pcmech.com/showthread.php?t=132409
