My first build, case recomendation
Hey Folks
I am starting my research into building my first computer. It will be a gaming rig. Can you all give me some recommendations? First, I need a case recommendation. I want a full tower case, portability is not an issue. I have big, giant, clumsy hands so I want a case easy to work in. I don't want any doors or fold outs that block access to optical drives or the front/top mounted ports. I have a Dell that had a fold out door over the ports and optical drives that irritated me to the point I took the door off and tossed it. Lastly, I want a case that I can continue to use for years so if there are front ports besides bus ports that it should have on it (I am not sure yet what is needed or desirable) and hardware compatibility issues I need to consider, please consider that as well. Also, bling is fine but not necessary, if it looks cool great, but function is more importent to me. Lol, just so I don't confuse the issue I will do a second post with my other questions. Thanks for your help! Rich |

Do you have a budget?
Case is personal preference. I would look at lian-li for a good clean sturdy case. I'll start you off: motherboard: asus p5k processor: E8400 ram: corsair xms2 ddr2-800 2 gb ram videocard: evga 8800 gt power supply: corsair 520 W What vendor do you plan on using? newegg? ncix? |

Hey Dave, thanks for the fast feedback. I outlined kind of what the rig will be in my other post, but regarding a vendor. I have found Newegg, Zipzoomfly and TigerDirect, but don't know ncix yet. I have no experience buying with any of them so I am open to suggestions about who has good customer service (important to me) and good prices.

If you are from the states. NEWEGG is good. If you are from Canada, ncix is the way to go. Avoid tigerdirect at all costs as they are slightly more expensive and have poor customer service.

I didn't want to merge them as I wanted direct input on a case. I have noticed that in a lot of recommendation threads the case is not mentioned or is just lightly hit on-- and I do understand it is not the most important component for a lot of folks but I had some specific needs I was looking to meet-- big and easy to work with but no doors. Thanks for all the info .

Here's a case with no front door/lots of front connections/not gaudy and big enough to work in: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811233026
Or for a mid-tower: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811119137
