First, double check to make sure that the CPU heatsink is fully latched in at all 4 corners.
Next, what is the brand and model # of the PSU. Reason for asking is that most PSUs that come with a case are usually junk quality/older ATX standard/watt rating can be overstated.

i have a Intell E8400 CPU and the case is a new antec Sonanta with a 500w PSU.

Ive had a look at the Heatsink and its defintly attached firmly at all four corners and it wont start, ive taken it out of the case and laid it on a box with just PSU and one stick of ram which i have swapped around to rule out RAM issues.

Fan spins for a second or two then dies, is this gonna be CPU or mobo issues?

Didn't you read the motherboard manual before you started the build?

i did read the manual but becuase i was presuming that it would just be a large brick connection the same as build i have done in the past i was unaware of the 4 pin connector i also needed, silly me.

Comps working and its damn speedy.
