Post Build Questions

Hello to all, appreciate any and all feedback. I'm building my new rig and just waiting for the parts to get here to get to it. My question is what to do after the build itself. Putting togethor my comp is the easy part but im not familiar with the whole 1st boot to BIOS and whatever follows that. I've read a lot in a million forums and would like some more help. My rig is:
Q6600
Zalman CNPS9700
EVGA 680i
150GB Raptor
500GB WD Caviar
EVGA 8800 GT Superclocked 512MB
X-FI Xtreme Gamer
2GB Corsair Dominator DDR2 1066MHZ
OCZ GameXstream 700W
Samsung Optical
Samsung 22" LCD
TT Armor
XP Media Center 2005

I want to install the OS on the raptor and use the other drive as storage. How do I partion and format the drives for that? Is there anything special i have to do in BIOS when I 1st boot up besides set the time and boot sequence? Would updating the MOBO BIOS be done after XP is installed and I reach the desktop? If any1 knows of any links to guides or tutorials to these steps I'd appreciate that too. Thanx again

I wouldn't update the bios unless you have a real reason to, and only if the uipdated bios fixes a problem you encounter.

The firts thing I would do is just install the hard drive that you want windows on. After you set the dvd drive to boot first, then install the windows cd, and start thecomputer up. It will walk you threw everything. After that is installed, you can turn off the computer and reinstall the second hard drive. After you install windows, you will want to install the drivers for your lan, video card, and sound card.

Thanx for the reply, that will help a lot. One more question, as far as my memory goes, I keep hearing that the voltage and speed register wrong with the MOBO sometimes and needs to be adjusted in the BIOS, how would I go about that?

In the mb manual, it will show you were to set the timings and speed and voltage.

I know in my bios, I have to change a settting from auto to manual, and then I have access to the rest of the settings.

You can set the proper timings, speed, and voltage after the initial boot. I make it a habit of doing this now, even if auto would work.
