HD photo-editing, rendering, gaming box - just need closure
Howdy all
I designed a box a few months ago, an upper-midline from what I've seen; I've already got a parts list down and a few still working parts from a machine one of my friends accidentally discharged a shotgun into. I'm mostly sure the parts are compatible, I just wanted to show the list to yon part-lords to see if it's compatible, and get some last minute suggestions before I lay down the cash. I want it to be future-resistant; I don't believe in future-proofing. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813138074 mobo: BIOSTAR TForce TF7025-M2 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819103191 brains: AMD Athlon 64 X2 6400+ Windsor 3.2GB http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820220144 short-term memory: Patriot 2x1GB DDR2 800 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814130291 visual cortex: EVGA 512-P2-N775-AR GeForce 8600GTS http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817814014 metabolic storage: ABS Tagan BZ Series BZ800 ATX12V / EPS12V 800W http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16824009094 reality matrix: cer AL2216Wbd Black 22" 5ms DVI Widescreen LCD and maybe one of these days when I have more change lying around: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820609241 one 8GB SSD These are the parts I already have: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...pk=nzxt%2bzero NZXT 0 case, though I'll be replacing the fans, they're all really weak card reader: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820223076 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822144417 WD Caviar 250GB hdd http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16827151141 Samsung super-drive (I'm such a Samsung fanboy) n-Lite'd WinXP Pro 32bit SP2 for an OS, probably gonna run Arch Linux in VM because I really want to learn. I put Arch on about 3 computers, and my friend Jason, who's been using GNU-Linux since '96, can't comprehend what happens when I touch Arch - everything dies. I mean I got ps to disappear and the computer run fine, and the default kbd driver to download and install and have X tell me kbd doesn't exist. But that's a problem for another forum. Any comments are appreciated! Last edited by SmilingAhab; 02-26-2008 at 01:05 PM. |
