HD photo-editing, rendering, gaming box - just need closure

Howdy all

I designed a box a few months ago, an upper-midline from what I've seen; I've already got a parts list down and a few still working parts from a machine one of my friends accidentally discharged a shotgun into. I'm mostly sure the parts are compatible, I just wanted to show the list to yon part-lords to see if it's compatible, and get some last minute suggestions before I lay down the cash. I want it to be future-resistant; I don't believe in future-proofing.

Samsung super-drive (I'm such a Samsung fanboy)

n-Lite'd WinXP Pro 32bit SP2 for an OS, probably gonna run Arch Linux in VM because I really want to learn. I put Arch on about 3 computers, and my friend Jason, who's been using GNU-Linux since '96, can't comprehend what happens when I touch Arch - everything dies. I mean I got ps to disappear and the computer run fine, and the default kbd driver to download and install and have X tell me kbd doesn't exist. But that's a problem for another forum.

Any comments are appreciated!
