Build problems

Ok, so here's the deal. I built a system about a year and a half ago. Up until now, it's been working fine, barring a few minor issues that were easily fixed. For the past 3 or 4 months now, I've been having this problem where the computer boots up and all is well, but there is no video output on the screen.(What happens is that the video card fan will spin up to full speed, but it doesn't go down to a normal level and just stays at full speed.) I solved this problem by unplugging all the power connectors on the motherboard and 6V pin for the video card and replugging them all. But it's now come to a point where no matter how many times I try unplugging and replugging everything, the system just doesn't have any video output. I thought that it might have been that the video card had problems and finally died, but I got a new card today and the problem wasn't solved. I even tried using the 6v pin connector that came with the new card, and it still didn't work. So I've come to the conclusion that it's either the motherboard or the power supply at this point. I've also been reading a couple of threads of people who had the same problem as me, and I assume it might also be a faulty connector on the actual plugs for the PSU.

My system:

Intel P4 640 Prescott 3.2 Ghz processor
Intel 945Pvs mobo
Antec 500W Basiq PSU
ATI X1800XT video card
Western Digital 250 GB Caviar HD
2 GB of Corsair valueselect ram at 533 Mhz

If you already suspect a faulty power supply, and to me that sounds resonable, might as well try a different one.

Thumbs up

Pretty Good but you seem not to have a case in your list. If you going to build a COMputer with Quad Q6600 mind as well put in a better motherboard like the ASUS P5KC P35 775 ATX Motherboard
