rebuilding a comp

hi guys im trying to rebuild a computer for my dad with parts i found around the house and from my old computer.

here is what i have

ecs 755-a2 mobo
120 gig maxtor
ati readeon 9550 agp
rosewill lca400atx psu
1 gig memory ... not sure what kind it is, it says bravo adp 328tm-50 (512mb)
and the other one =elixir m2u51264ds8hb3g-6k
sony crx140e cdrw drive

so here is my problem. i turned the computer on and everything looks like it boots up.. ie.. the lights blink on my cd drive, and the case(well on the case it just stays solid, ii bought it as an open box at best buy, so im not sure if its suposed to do that)_but there is nothing on my monitor. I tried to clear the bios, but it still doesnt work.

Follow the instructions in the first post and let us know what happens. You must remove the motherboard from the case when doing this.

That Rosewill power supply is made by L&C, one of the worst power supply manufacturer's out there. You might want to consider replacing it before it blows and kills the computer.

yup i tried that with the same outcome... no screen. i noticed that the bios chip heats up very quickly. in fact it gets really hot really fast is it suposed to do that. im thinking that the board just doesnt recognise the vid card, but if that is so, how can i make it work.

ECS motherboards are crap as well and most likely doa since you noticed in your last thread that the psu was smoking it almost for sure fried the mb... I suggest you decide on a budget and build your dad a decent machine.. You can build a very basic one for around $600..
