Build for two of my friends. New to the whole "dual quad core" thing.

Okay, two of my friends have money and want to build their computers. I haven't poked my head into the game for about 5 years, so I'm trying to absorb some information on all this new stuff.

My one friend wants a pc comparable to a mac he saw, he does a lot of visual work. My other friend wants a gaming rig. Both of them are pretty much the same computer, the only difference being one of them will have a more powerful processor and double the ram.

They're both planning on running XP 64 with a possible dual boot of Vista.

I'll post below the lower-end of the two.

Intel Xeon E5410 Harpertown 2.33GHz 12MB L2 Cache LGA 771 80W Quad-Core Processor X 2
$570.00 ($285.00 each)

PNY VCG88512GXPB G92 GeForce 8800GT 512MB 256-bit Video Card
$209.99

Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 ST3500630AS 500GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive
$104.99

CORSAIR 2GB 240-Pin DDR2 FB-DIMM ECC Fully Buffered DDR2 667 (PC2 5300) Server Memory
$76.99

I'm confused as to the case & power supply since this isn't ATX form any more.

Any suggestions appreciated.

If you need to go quad-core, I'd suggest the Q6600. You can find it here:

Why the server motherboard?

The mac advertised the server mobo / xeon processors, so he's stuck on them.

For a gaming computer, running a server board with 2 quad core CPUs is a real waste of money. Need to stick with a board/CPU/video card geared to gaming.
