Have i done something wrong?

I'm almost finished building a new rig and i'm at the point trying to install Windows XP and when i get to the point where it asks for drivers, for SATA/SCSI press F6. So i did this and then i get message " TXTSETUP.OEM " could not be found?

I looked on the gigabyte website for drivers and noticed this available SATA driver v 9.16 for windows XP and i downloaded this to floppy, but not sure if i did this correctly. ANyway i clicked save to floppy disk. then inserted this, tried again, still get same message??

The motherboard is a Gigabyte, GA-57SLI-S4 (v.2)
Hard drive is Seagate ST3160815AS Sata 160GB.

I've enabled SATA/RAID in Bios setup!

What is the problem here

Doesn't that motherboard have native support for SATA drives? Have you tried to just let the installation process go without hitting the F6 key?

I think that board has native SATA support, so there's no need to try to install the SATA drivers through F6. Just try skipping that step, and I believe you'll proceed with no problems from there.

Edit: Sry, slower key-puncher than Mr. Cricket...

I would first try a different hd, those links don't always specify what you should really do.. I found this by googling and found another user on a different fourm with the same exact code as yours and someone gave him that link.. It proved to be useful to him..

Didn't read that whole article, but you could either run diagnostics on the hard drive, or completely format the drive and start to try and install windows again.
