Semi-budget build

Hello, all. This isn't my first build, but I like the feedback and advice that can be found here so I thought I'd list my parts and see if anyone had any advice.

This system will be mainly used for web/email, photo editing, and watching videos. Trying to keep the cost down while at the same time giving it some room to grow. Existing monitor, keyboard, speakers, and mouse will be used. Any critiques/recommendations are greatly appreciated.

Case - Cooler Master Centurion - $49.99

Mobo - Asus P5B - $94.99

Video - BFG GeForce 8500GT - $69.99 (Before $45 rebate)

PSU - Corsair 450W - $79.99 (Before $10 rebate)

CPU - Intel Core 2 Duo E6750 - $189.00

RAM - Corsair XMS2 2GB PC2 6400 - $53.00 (Before $25 rebate)

HD - Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 320GB - $79.99

Optical - LITE-ON 20x DVD Burner - $29.99

OS - Windows XP OEM - $89.99

That puts the system at $737.92 retail and $657.92 after rebates.

Big thing I would change is the motherboard. Get the P5K or P5K-E. It has a newer chipset.

Also, if you're going to be upgrading, look into a higher wattage power supply. This would give you some more headroom: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817139004

you might check out the price on the Antec Sonota case/psu combo. Good 500 w PSU and nice case which can usually be found on sell for around $100.

Overall, the build look good for a low budget build, I agree with shadow and would try to fit the P5K into your budget if you can, it would provide longer term upgrade optiions.

Thanks for the advice, everyone. As far as the case and PSU go, I've always loved CoolerMaster cases and I've had nothing but good luck with Corsair PSU's, so I think I'll stick with what I'm comfortable with even though it costs a bit more.

I did switch the Mobo to an Asus P5K-E. This will save me the hassle of messing with the current wireless card in the old rig and gives me more options with upgrades down the road.

The bad thing about building rigs for family is shopping for the parts I always see something I could upgrade my current rig with!

Thanks again.
