CPU/MOBO suggestions

I'm considering a build this summer. I want to keep the total cost at ~$800, but hope to use it for gaming. What sorts of CPUs should I be looking at if I want the most bang for my buck? What corresponding MOBOs should I keep in mind?

Thanks

Definitely Intel's new 45nm architecture CPUs(Wolfdale). E8400/E8500 is the way to go. They're cheaper(cheaper to manufacture meaning they can sell for less), consume less power, can go up to higher stock factory clock speeds. Revolutionary 3.16GHz w/the E8500.

For CPUs don't even consider AMD atm. They're crap right now, they're leading/were leading w/GPUs by acting like the Soviet Union of GPUs by just cramming 2 GPUs onto one piece of PCB. :P

As for motherboards, it's an open guess for me, haven't been keeping up w/them. 790i will be out soon, but, I wouldn't refer it being new. Usually new hardware/software has lots of flaws. Best left to the testers and explorers.

Best to wait until a week or two prior to purchasing to find out what is the best. Tech changes too fast to plan this far ahead.

Yeah I should probably wait until I can actually afford to build the thing! I'm just excited to get building. Thanks guys, and I'll keep those Intel's at the top of my list for now.
