new build parts list

Hey all this is my first solo build. I have picked out my parts and i was wondering if i could get some opinons on my choices. My main concern is if my power supply is big enough and if vista 64 bit with 8gigs is worth it. I will mainly be gaming alot and some photoshop. Im going to be playing Warhammer online if that helps at all. So here it is:

ASUS M2N32-SLI Deluxe Wireless Edition AM2 NVIDIA nForce 590 SLI MCP ATX AMD Motherboard

I will be running it on Vista home premium 64bit in an Antec nine hundred mid tower.

Thanks alot for all the help and suggestions.

Hi Greg,
Dump the cooler master power supply, go with either Antec, FSP, Sparkle or Seasonic.
Some versions of Photoshop won't work right with Vista 64, if you were just gaming I would say go for the 64 bit but I recommend 4 gigs of memory and 32bit Vista if you going to use it for anything other than games that are no more than 2 years old.
That Raptor is really nice but for less money you can get a 750GB with 32mb cache burst which will yield very similar results but have a ton of storage capacity and be far more reliable. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822148298

thanks for the advice. my wife has 32bit vista 2 gigs so maybe i will just use hers for the photoshop and stick with mine for gaming.

Is 650watts enough for powersupply or do i need more or will less work?

The 64 bit vs. 32 bit is very program specific. If you are mainly using the computer for gaming I would recommend 32 bit OS with 4 GB of ram. Most games are written for 32 bit OS so they actually run a bit slower on 64 bit because comands must be converted before they can be processed. Also, if you have any favorite older games they may not work with a 64 bit OS. Most games, even newer ones, are optimized to run on 2 GB of ram or less so having 4 gives you enough head room for those that will utilize more.

All that being said, 64 bit OS will work fine with games. The speed drop from the conversion of instructions is minor and if you have some software that can really benefit from 8 GB of ram then it is the only way to get it. So either way you go will probably work out fine.

thanks for the advice. I think i will go ahead and get the 32 bit with 4 gigs ram. i just want the comp to be fast and i have read how slow vista can be so i figured 64bit 8gigs would work but after reading some threads and researching some more 32bit 4 gigs sounds good.

Thanks again
