Upgrading current system..

and dont know if I need a new power supply.

Currently have an Enermax 350W PS, but am adding ASUS M3A78-EMH HDMI AM2+/AM2 AMD 780G HDMI Micro ATX AMD Motherboard, with AMD Athlon 64 X2 5600+ Windsor 2.8GHz 2 x 1MB L2 Cache Socket AM2 89W Dual-Core Processor and G.SKILL 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory. Other hardware includes 1 HHD, 1 optical drive, and a wireless PCI card. Will use the onboard video. Do I need to upgrade the PS or is the current one sufficient for my system?

Thanks for the help.

Ok well I used http://www.extreme.outervision.com/PSUEngine to calculate and got around ~240 W.

I think it will be ok if you just use onboard video. If you choose to use an external video card in the future, you need to upgrade for sure.

I hope someone could confirm with you as well.

Does your current power supply have a 20 or 24 pin motherboard power connector as well as a 4 pin 12v power connector?

i have the 690G chipset version of that board and I ran mine on a 300W PSU. If you are going to add a 3400 series and hybrid crossfire I would put in at least a 500W or 550W. Thanks for the post i thought that gigabyte was the only one producing the 790G's.

Thanks Cricket, it has a 20 pin (apparently requires 24) and I do not see the 4 pin CPU power plug. Looks as though I need a different PS or a couple of ?adapters?. Do they make such a thing?

Think I found what I need..

Rosewill Stallion Series RD450-2-SB ATX V2.2 450W Power Supply - Retail, from the NewEgg site. Has the 20+4 pin main connector AND an 8 pin AND a 4 pin cpu power connector. Thanks for catching that Cricket, saved me at least 3 days waiting for the PS (I didn't get) to arrive.

I'd go with a better brand then a Rosewill. Check out our power information thread: http://forum.pcmech.com/showthread.php?t=131195

Thermaltake is a good brand that is very reasonably priced. You could get what you need for about $40. For example http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817153023
