Server Upgrade
Hello all,
I'm looking for an Asus Mobo that will handle 6 Sata II drives in a single RAID 5. Needs to handle a single Intel Quad Core Processor. Other than that, I'm open to suggestions. This will be housed in a 2U Rack-Mount chassis. The board can be a regular ATX board since that is what is in this server now. Any suggestions on Ram, Video, and a Processor are welcome also. Thanks. |

If you were going AMD I would be suggesting the M2N-LR, I am not sure if Intel makes an equivelant motherboard for Intel CPU.
Depending on how critical this server is I would consider a good raid card like an Intel or Adaptec. Here is what I found from Asus http://www.asus.com/products.aspx?mo...3&l2=11&l3=485 runs about $240 I have used a lot of Supermicro and Tyan boards as well and they work great but again always AMD Opterons so I don't know how well they work with Intel. Here are a few Asus Desktop boards that have 6 SATAII but I would not trust them for a raid 5 setup. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813131222 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813131275 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813131185 You are thinking of going Xeon right? Memory make sure and use ECC Crucial, Kingston or Corsair.
