Compatability Issues?

Hey all, I am looking to build my first PC and I'm hoping you all could check it and help me to make sure everything is compatible. This is a budget build (hopefully under $500 or close to it) for my wife. However, I will use it some until I can afford to build myself a nice one.

Her uses consist mostly of online bill paying, internet, word processing, basic kind of stuff. I run AutoCAD, SketchUP, and some other mid-level 3D graphic programs.

I'm going to start with Windows XP because I already have a disk for it. But, I would like to know if these components would work well with Vista as I'm quite sure I'll upgrade from XP in a year or so.

Enough for the introduction, on to the parts (I took a lot of this list from a $500 budget build thread elsewhere on this site):

SIGMA ZEN WDP diamond pink SECC Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case - $74.99

GIGABYTE GA-P35-DS3L LGA 775 Intel P35 ATX All Solid Capacitor Intel Motherboard - $99.99

MSI NX8600GT-T2D256E OC GeForce 8600GT 256MB 128-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16 SLI Supported Video Card - $85.99

CORSAIR CMPSU-550VX ATX12V V2.2 550W Power Supply - $104.99

Intel Pentium E2180 Allendale 2.0GHz LGA 775 65W Dual-Core Processor Model BX80557E2180 - $79.99

G.SKILL 2GB 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Desktop Memory Model F2-6400CL5S-2GBPQ - $54.99

Western Digital Caviar SE WD1600AAJS 160GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive - $47.99

LITE-ON 20X DVD±R DVD Burner With 12X DVD-RAM Write Black SATA Model LH-20A1S - $29.99

Total Cost (before shipping): $578.92

The cost is slightly higher than I'd like, but it's not that big of a deal as it's less than $100. I think I could probably find a cheaper modular PSU, but maybe not.

The monitor, keyboard, and mouse, while not great, can all be recycled from the existing computer until we can afford something better.

Thanks in advance for the advice.

Build looks fine but will throw out a few suggestions.

Unless you are planning on some very big upgrades you could get by with 500 w PSU easy. You might take a look at the Antec Sonota III case/psu combo that comes with a very nice 500w PSU for around $100 combined.

If you like your case better then take a look at the Corsair 520 or 550 PSUs. I have not really heard of Kingwin so that makes me a bit nervious.

For video cards I prefer EVGA. But have not heard anything bad about MSI so it could be fine.

For burners most on these forms would recommend Lite-on over Samsung. Been quite a few failure with Samsung lately. If you go Lite-on get retail and you get a free copy of Nero for about $3 more.

Thank you for the suggestions Kat. Honestly, I'm not savvy enough yet with building PC's to know any better on which brands would be best. So, I really appreciate the suggestions.

Thanks again, and if anyone has any more input, fire away. I'm all ears.

I've updated the PSU and Optical Drive in my original post.
