MB Shorting When In Case but how/where?

My motherboard is shorting when I place inside the case but I don't know where or how. There are 9 holes for screws but I can only get 6 of them fastened to the case. There is plastic on the underside of the MB that holds the CPU fan in place and helps keep it tight. This plastic on the underside is what is preventing me from fastening all of the screws.
Could this be the problem?

I also tried to fasten using the foam padding included with the MB when shipped and I placed that between the MB and the case but I still cannot get the computer to post. The only metallic thing that was touching the MB at that point was the slots on the outside of the computer where the USB ports, keyboard and mouse ports, etc... "pop" through.

Any idea where and what may be cause the short?

I'm using an MSI K9N SLI Platinum Motherboard and am attaching it to the case on this link

Welcome to PCMech. It is ok that you are only using 6 out of the 9 mounting holes. Thats enough for a strong mount. You don't want to use any foam. That is only to protect the board during shipping.

Are you using standoffs between the holes in the board and those in the case? If not, install them first. They should be in the bag of screws that came with your case.

thanks for the welcome, I appreciate it.

and thanks for pointing out that I'm a jack-ass, I did not use the standoffs's between the board and case.
I kept reading about these standoffs but just assumed they were regular screws, not the ones in the picture you attached.

thanks again, I'll give that a try and see how it turns out. I'm pretty confident it will solve the problem.

But anyway, everytime I push the power button all of the lights on the board light up and then go out within a second, except one yellow light telling me there is power in and to the board. This is my first build, and everything went together fine, I just can't figure out where it could possible be touching the case. I checked everywhere and can't seem to figure it out. I even tore the build back down to just the MB, processor w/ heatsink, power supply, and case. I am totally puzzled. Anyone have any suggestions, I did see one on here to put the MB in a box and try it by itself, so I will try that tonight. But I won't have access to a computer to look up the troubleshooting I need so any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Specs:

K9A2 Platinum V1 790fx Chipset
9600 Black Edition AMD Phenom
2 Gigs of OCZ PC6400
ATI x1600 pro (yeah this will definately be updated when funds come back around!!)
750 Watt Cooler Master Power Pro
3 80mm Fans

Thanks in advance to any help that can be given.
