? on motherboard
I have the following Core 2 Quad Q6600/Evga e-Geforce 8800GTS 640mb graphics/4 gig Crucial Ballistix 800/WD 500gig HDD. My question is which new MB would be a good choice for this considering that I want to get another 8800GTS and SLI them and posibly get another 4 gig ram(yes I will be using vista home premium 64bit). I would like a board that can be OC'd. I noticed that most new boards come with integrated Digital HD audio so if the board suggested needs it which sound card. Thanks in advance.

I have heard a lot of good feed back on the Asus P5N series. They come in both 750i and 780i depending on your needs. The 780i boards are pretty full featured but run on the expensive side of MBs.
ASUS P5N-T Deluxe LGA 775 NVIDIA nForce 780i SLI ATX Intel Motherboard - Retail Most newer boards have great sound. So, unless you are running a fantastic set of speakers you will probably do fine without a sound card. Also, sound cards are easy to add so give the on-board sound a try first. If you eventually go SLI be sure to check out the PSU requirements for the cards you plan on using. http://www.slizone.com/object/slizone_build_psu.html Kat

I checked out that MB on newegg and a couple other spots and the reviews weren't all that good in fact they seemed to be about 30 to 40 percent bad as in boot problems and bios and other things so I wonder if they have fixed the problems on the MB's being shipped or if they are still having these.

The 780i chipset is relatively new. Being rushed to the market to handle the newer 45mm processors they are probably going through lots of bios upgrades and such. I think that is just the price you pay when trying to keep up with the very fast moving tech advances lately.
I would still feel more comfortable going Asus because of the quality and support they offer. I expect Abit and Gig also have similar 780i boards out and I have had good support from both of those brands also. You might serch for 780i and 750i threads on this forum and see what problem people had building with them. Kat |

I'm sorry, I missed the part about back to back posts and it will not happen again. I understand the points made about upgrades to the bios it's just that I'm not real comfortable with bios upgrades even though I have read all the info about it I could find.
