I have an ASUS board and the board stinks trying to see SATA drives. When I take the thing apart I know that I will have a nightmare trying to get the system to see the drives. What I do is to try to power on and if it doesn't see the drive plug it into another connector and reboot. after a couple of tries something changes and it sees the drives. try unplugging the DVD and get the HDD recognized then add the DVD back in.

I did that too...removed the DVD, put the HDD in every SATA and it does not detect it....It did show up in the SATA 1 in the BIOS for a second, but it showed as 0MB, I hope its not a dead HDD.
