NO Sound Driver Help

I just build a new PC with the follow parts:

Asus P5K Pro Socket 775
Intel Duo Core
XFX GeForce 8600GT
Antect 900 Case

So far its running great but NO Sound. I have made sure its set in the Bios to AC'97 and that its attached to the main board with the AC'97 wire clip but still no sound. I have tried downloading the driver (Realtek AC'97) from the CD again but I keep getting errors.
Should I be using the HDD Audio wire clip? I don't plan on setting it up for more that three speakers.

BTW: I am using a set of IBM speakers. At least it's a sub woofer

There are so many plugs for speakers on this board I am not sure if I even have it plugged into the right slot!

Try the hd cable. And get the latest driver from asus.com

Also try known working speakers.

When I set my sound up on the P5K board the AC'97 in bios was the fix I required. If you have headphone jacks do you have a set of headphones pugged in? There was a setting with my sound software that turned off speakers when headphones where plugged in.

Have you gone into the sound software program that should be showing up on your screen. It has a test and allows you to isolate speakers to see if a signal is being sent by clicking on the different speaker Icons. Also, do you have it set for 2.1 or is it trying to run a 5.1 system. You should also try the different jacks.
