Bang for my buck...

My old Soyo Dragon plus gave out on me last week. I have looked into replacing the mobo but seems that only boards I can find that accept the AGP cards are not that good. So I have put together a build from Newegg that I would like your help with. I am looking for best dollar value.

I have shared it on newegg but for some reason when I link it it doesn't show up. I have copied it and will paste it.

I am not a big gammer but do occasional HL2. Just want a new rig that would be a good all around machine. I will be using XP home.

I already have a Enermax noisetakerII I think is a 485W PS. Thanks for the input.

Build looks good. I would generally recomend 500w these days for a rig because video cards have become so hungry for power but Enermax is a good brand so your current PSU would probably support the 8600 Gt fine. Make sure it meets the ATX 2.0 standard required for the newer MBs, if it is an older ATX 1.0 standard it will need to be replaced.

I would recomend moving up to the newer 9600 GT vid card if you like smooth gaming. The 8600 GT is a bit light but if your gaming needs are very casual or you just like older games it will probably handle it. But if the price difference is not too great the 9600 GT is a much better card.

could not tell from the post, but try to get a HD with at least 16 mb cache. Seek times are much better. I think there are some newer 32 mb cache now in the smaller sizes which are even faster.

Step down to 800 ram. 1066 is really just for extream over-clockers. You dont need ram that fast and 800 will be a bit cheaper.

Ok, changed the Ram to 800. The HD is a 16mb cache. Her is a link to the PS..

Thanks for the quick response

It's ordered! I kept the PS and video card but changed the memory to 800 instead of the 1066. Appreciate the help.
