Where are you getting the parts from? $1420 is a lot of money for a computer and a lot of your parts seems off in terms of performance, what are you going to use the computer for?

You should take a look at either reducing your budget or getting better performance parts.
At the moment a good combination of core parts would be:
Intel Core 2 Duo E8xxx series (microbytes has E8200)
P5K-E Motherboard
8800GT 512MB Video Card
2GB DDR2-800 (Mushkin has some good, low priced ram sticks), you could also reuse the ram from your old computer if you are not using that one anymore.

Agree with masaki, for that kind of money you can buy in the mid-high market. Take a look at some of the build posts on the forum and you will see most recomended computers fall right into your price range and will offer substantially higher performance.

You could save a bit and downsize the PSU to something around 550 w or so. Doubt you would ever need that much headroom and you can get good quality 550-600 w PSUs for $80-90 or so.

Make sure you need all the bells and whisles on the MB. There is quite a spread of P5K boards and you can save money by getting just the extras you think you will use. The most popular board is the P5K-E which has a better sound chip than the base P5K. But if you are still planning on a sound card that is a mute selling point.

That is the current sweet spot for duel core processors so it should make you happy. If you have software that can benefit from quad cores than look at the Q6600 as nice alternative for about the same money.

Generally I go with EVGA for Navida cards but like you say there are quite a few quality makers and the cards are very similar. So if you find one for a steal from a name brand company you would probably be fine.

Someone in another thread told me this !!!

Quote:
A true PCI-E PSU would have an amp rating for the 12v in the 30amp range.
Any recomondations for a PSU in that range ???
I cant seem to find any ... all the ones i look at are in the 20's amp range !!!

Most power supplies these days have multiple 12V rails. So if you see a PSU with a rating of say 12V1 16A and 12V2 16A, that is 32A total, so it will work. .

Yup, the Corsairs are highly recommended here and around other forums. Go with the 550 for sure, especially if you are consider overclocking. If you plan on upgrading to a quad core/9800gx2 anytime definitely grab the 650.
