need help just started build after upgrade

hello all i just upgraded my pc from a amd 3800 to intel6750 p5ke se motherboard and two sticks of 1gb kingston ram.

the problem is it would only boot with one stick in at a time every time i put two sticks in either colored slot's the mointor would shut off how do i fix this?

i went ahead and fresh installed win xp and just put my drivers in for the mother board.
need to figure it out so i can get dual channel up and going.

thanks for your time

Can you give us a link to the exact RAM sticks you bought?

So with only one stick of ram, it will boot up fine, but with both it won't?

Will it boot up if you switch the sticks?

Have you manually adjusted the ram voltage in bios to make sure it's getting what is recommended?

If you have, and both sticks work individually, then it sounds like a motherboard problem. RMA it then.

Pop into your motherboard BIOS and look around for settings related to "DRAM Frequency" or something similar. The timings should be automatically recognized. Look for a voltage setting. It should say 1.8V. If not, manually change it to 1.8, save your settings and shut down. Put in both sticks and see if the machine boots.

I've had problems with Intel motherboards and the Dual Channel slots in the past. Would boot up fine when RAM in single channel slots but wouldn't boot in Dual Channel slots. RMA the motherboard, got a replacement and everything was fine after. I started to use only ASUS motherboards after having to RMA 3 Intel motherboards with the same problems.

Call up newegg if you bought it from them, and tell them that you need to send it back for a replacement. They should help you with that.

I had the same issue with an ASUS M2n series. I gave up on the instructions to install in the black slots and just started moving them around and trying different combinations. One of them finally worked.

Good luck!
