New Build. Question

I'm putting together a computer. Some people tell amd is better to go with ATI Graphic cards than Intel. But i noticed some of the motherboards aren't that great to go with amd. I Read that sb600 south bridge on motherboards is not so great and most amd have sb600 well that ones i want.

Looking to build a gaming compter with a budgest of 1,400 dallors. I want to go with the 3870 iceQ overclocked edition - Crossfire . Whats a good system i can build that can revolve around that Graphics card.

Motherboard -
CPU -
System Memory, Ram -

Motherboard - Asus P5E (X38)
CPU - E8400 if for gaming only, Q6700 if you will be using the computer for other things such as multitasking, either one is good for overclocking.
Ram - 2x1GB DDR2-800 (I use Mushkin)

That's not an AMD / Crossfire build, Masaki... jojoox2 is asking for Crossfire suggestions.

He said he didn't like the SB600 in the AMD motherboards, so he was asking for a build revolving around the cards (crossfire), which is what I've posted (X38 has dual X16 PCIe 2.0 slots for crossfire).

For that much money you could spring for a 3879x2 or 9800gx2. Nvidia has 3 cards out right now faster than the 3870 you have listed, but that's personal preference I guess.

If it was all about the CPU I would say hey Intel is the leader right now.
The Intel CPUs are faster in some ways than the AMDs however more hardcore gamers choose AMD. Specialy those who like to PVP.
Generaly AMD works a lot better with video cards (Nvidia or ATI) than Intel, so even though the Intel is faster than the AMD the overall package is better with an AMD if you are a gamer.
AMD structure is superior in how it channels data. There are a lot of benchmarks out there that show intel is faster but if you go to any major gaming forums you will find AMD is far more stable with gaming than Intel. It might be nice to have the fastest car on the block but it won't do you much good if it never finishes a race.
Find some gaming forums by searching google, you will read for yourself what people say.

Most hardcore gamers I know prefer Intel CPUs because they offer higher performance than AMD at the higher end of the budget ($1000 and up) and sometimes because of the higher overclocking potential in Intel CPUs. What do you mean by AMD works a lot better with video cards than Intel? Intel computers have the same compatibility as AMD computers when it comes to video cards and usually have better performance than AMD with the same video card. AMD has more advanced technology, unfortunately very little of it is actually utilized for general computers (different story when it comes to servers), Intel has less advanced technology in their processors (in terms of additional features like HT, integrated memory controller, ect. they have better manufacturing technology) but that technology is geared around general computers, so overall they are faster. Regarding stability with either Intel or AMD, it ultimately depends on your choices of hardware (motherboard, power supply, memory, ect.) make good choices and you won't have problems with stability. Either way it might be a good idea to take a look at gaming forums, but you won't go wrong with using either an Intel or AMD processor as long as you pick out good hardware to go with the processor.

Personally, I don't think it matters and it just doesn't make sense to buy an inferior product for the same money. However, the newer Phenom's are pretty decent. Intel is still faster.
